Why is Obama Upset? The Legal and Political Aspects of the Israeli Settlements in the Occupied Palestinian Territories

You are invited to a talk by Israeli human rights lawyer Shlomy Zachary at UWC.

He will explore the legal and political controversies surrounding existing, expanding and new settlements in the occupied Palestinian territories. He'll present an overview of how the land lies today and discuss the legal history, impact of international and Israeli rulings, the legality of various settlements and the political, moral, economic and legal issues arising from ongoing settlement in the occupied Palestinian territories.

About Shlomy Zachary

Shlomy Zachary is a human rights lawyer who specialises in issues of the Settlements and has handled many cases for the Peace Now Settlement Watch division. He works in the areas of International Law, International Humanitarian Law and Human Rights Law, Constitutional and Administrative Law, Copyright Law and Civil Litigation. He also volunteers with Yesh Din (Volunteers for Human Rights) and has written 'Between the Geneva Conventions – Where Does the Unlawful Combatant Belong?', published in the Israel Law Review.
