Haaretz: IDF advised that soldiers lives take precedence over civilians

Supporters of the Israeli attack on Gaza argue that Israel does not target civilians. The IDF spokesperon has claimed "We don’t target civilians while they do." The Israeli Consul General in New York has also stressed that the IDF goes out of its way to avoid civilian casualties.
